Turquoise is a mineral from the phosphate group, composed of hydrated copper and aluminum phosphate (CuAl₆(PO₄)₄(OH)₈·4H₂O). It is distinguished by its sky blue, blue-green to green colors, sometimes streaked with dark veins from the matrix.
It is formed mainly in alteration zones of copper-rich deposits, particularly in arid regions.
