Smithsonite is a mineral from the carbonate group, composed of zinc carbonate (ZnCO₃). It comes in a wide variety of colors, including blue, green, pink, yellow, brown, or white, with a vitreous to pearly luster. It is mainly formed in the oxidation zones of zinc deposits, often associated with calcite, dolomite, and cerussite.
