Smoky quartz

Smoky quartz is a variety of quartz, belonging to the silicate group, composed of silicon dioxide (SiO₂). Its color ranges from smoky gray to deep brown, sometimes almost black, and results mainly from natural irradiation and the presence of impurities in the crystal. It forms notably in magmatic rocks and hydrothermal veins.
