Sunstone is a variety of feldspar exhibiting an optical phenomenon called aventurescence, created by fine reflective inclusions, typically of hematite, goethite, or copper. Its color varies from yellow, orange, and reddish to brown, with golden or coppery metallic reflections that appear when the stone is oriented towards the light.
Composed mainly of oligoclase or labradorite type feldspar, it forms in magmatic rocks. Sunstone is particularly known for its sparkling flashes and luminous effects.
