Mimetite is a rare mineral from the arsenate group, composed of lead arsenate (Pb₅(AsO₄)₃Cl). It generally occurs as small hexagonal crystals or botryoidal masses, with yellow, bright yellow, orange, brown, green, or white colors.
It forms in the oxidation zones of lead deposits, often associated with cerussite, pyromorphite, wulfenite, or vanadinite. Specimens from Namibia, Morocco, Mexico, and England are known for their well-formed crystals and varied colors.
