A meteorite is a fragment of rock or metal from an asteroid, planet, or other celestial body that has traveled through Earth's atmosphere and reached the ground. The main types are stony, iron, and stony-iron (mixed) meteorites. Their composition can include silicates, iron, and nickel, as well as rare minerals.
Some, like chondrites, contain structures formed over 4.5 billion years ago, offering exceptional insight into the early days of the Solar System.
