Malachite

Malachite is a mineral from the carbonate group, composed of basic copper carbonate (Cu₂CO₃(OH)₂). It is distinguished by its magnificent shades of light to deep green, often arranged in concentric bands, ribbons, or botryoidal patterns.

It forms in the oxidation zones of copper deposits, frequently associated with azurite, chrysocolla, cuprite, or brochantite. Specimens from the DRC, Morocco, Russia, and Australia sometimes exhibit particularly remarkable shapes and patterns.
