Lazulite is a rare mineral from the phosphate group, composed of magnesium aluminum phosphate (MgAl₂(PO₄)₂(OH)₂). It stands out for its remarkable azure to deep blue color, sometimes with violet hues, due to its particular crystalline structure.
It generally forms prismatic crystals or compact masses in aluminum-rich metamorphic rocks. Fine specimens, particularly those from Austria, Brazil, Canada, and Pakistan, are prized by collectors for their rarity, intense color, and vitreous luster.
