Epidote is a mineral from the sorosilicate group, composed of calcium, aluminum, and iron silicate (Ca₂(Al,Fe)₃(SiO₄)₃(OH)). It is recognized by its elongated prismatic crystals and its characteristic pistachio green to dark green color, sometimes yellow-green or brown.
Mainly formed in metamorphic rocks and hydrothermal veins, it is often associated with quartz, feldspar, clinozoisite, or garnet. Beautiful epidote crystals, especially those from Pakistan, Austria, and Mali, are highly prized for their vitreous luster and elegant crystal morphology.
