Cobaltocalcite is a variety of cobalt-rich calcite, belonging to the carbonate group. It is distinguished by its magnificent bright pink to raspberry pink colors, due to the presence of cobalt in its composition. It generally forms rhombohedral crystals or aggregates on copper and cobalt ore matrices. The best-known specimens come notably from the deposits of Katanga (Democratic Republic of Congo), where it is often associated with malachite, azurite, or heterogenite.
