Calcite is a mineral composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) and one of the most abundant minerals on Earth. It is distinguished by an extraordinary diversity of crystalline forms and colors, ranging from colorless to white, yellow, orange, red, blue, green, pink, or brown. Present in sedimentary, metamorphic, and hydrothermal rocks, calcite often forms spectacular crystals associated with many other minerals and is an essential component of limestones, marble, and cave stalactites.
