Amethyst

Amethyst is a variety of quartz whose magnificent purple hues have captivated civilizations since antiquity. Once reserved for kings and clergy, it was considered a gemstone as precious as ruby or sapphire before the discovery of large Brazilian deposits.

Some giant geodes, discovered in Brazil and Uruguay, can reach several meters in height and weigh several tons.
